Obama Criticizes ‘Gun Lobby,’ Pushes ‘Action’ on Guns

May 26, 2022

In the wake of Tuesday’s shooting at a Texas elementary school, former President Barack Obama predictably responded by criticizing the “gun lobby” and pushing for “action” on guns now.

The New York Times quoted Obama as saying, “Nearly 10 years after Sandy Hook — and 10 days after Buffalo — our country is paralyzed, not by fear, but by a gun lobby and a political party that have shown no willingness to act in any way that might help prevent these tragedies.”

He added, “It’s long past time for action, any kind of action. And it’s another tragedy — a quieter but no less tragic one — for families to wait another day.”

This is pure partisan exploitation of the murder of nearly 20 schoolchildren. The Democrats never fail to use tragedies like this to push for gun confiscation and the repeal of the Second Amendment — anything less, or any opposition to that totalitarian aim, is smeared as an “unwillingness to act.”
