In an op-ed Monday at the National Catholic Reporter, NCR’s executive editor Heidi Schlumpf declared radical Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) to be “the future of the Catholic Church.”
Schlumpf praised AOC as a “rock-star millennial leader of the left” who “grew up Catholic and even wrote about how her faith influences her views on public policies such as mass incarceration, for a Catholic magazine.”
Of course, AOC is rabidly pro-abortion, which pretty much disqualifies her from sainthood. She claims that legislation protecting the unborn is all about “owning women,” establishing theocracy in America, and bolstering “a core element underpinning right-wing ideology: patriarchy.” Asserting that “abortion is health care” and a “non-negotiable” right, she launched a petition to repeal the Hyde Amendment, which prevents federal funds from being used for abortion “just to suit the interests of anti-choice zealots.”
If the radical communist Ocasio-Cortez is the future of Catholicism, heaven help us all.
