In an interview Friday on CNN’s AC360, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler stated that the information revealed by the Watergate tapes “was piddling compared to what was absolutely proven” during President Trump’s impeachment process.
“What was revealed on that tape was piddling compared to what was absolutely proven now,” Nadler said. “And yet, the bulk of the Republican Party [in the Senate] now refused to act. They were perfectly prepared and — to let this kind of unconstitutional theft of — attempted theft of an election go forward.”
When host Anderson Cooper asked, “You’re saying what President Trump did is worse than what Nixon did,” Nadler replied, “Far worse.”
Nadler’s claim that Trump’s impeachable behavior was “absolutely proven” is a ludicrous lie. The Democrats went forward with a sham, partisan, attempted impeachment despite having zero evidence of impeachable crimes, which is why the “bulk of the Republican Party” in the Senate shut it down.
