In a statement shared to social media on Thursday, former first lady Michelle Obama slammed President Trump and his supporters demonstrating in the U.S. Capitol, saying they “desecrated the center of American government.”

“Like all of you, I watched as a gang — organized, violent, and mad they’d lost an election — laid siege to the United States Capitol,” Obama wrote hyperbolically of what was actually Antifa-driven violence. “They set up gallows. They proudly waved the traitorous flag of the Confederacy through the halls. They desecrated the center of American government.”

“[O]nce authorities finally gained control of the situation, these rioters and gang members were led out of the building not in handcuffs, but free to carry on with their days,” Michelle continued. Fact check: over 50 people were arrested, and Trump supporters — unlike Antifa thugs or MS-13 monsters whom Democrats defend — are not gang members.

The woman who had never been proud of her country until her Marxist radical husband won the Democrat nomination for President then went on to claim that the Trump protesters were treated differently from Black Lives Matter (BLM) mobs.

“In city after city, day after day, we saw peaceful protestors met with brute force,” Obama claimed of the wave of BLM in cities across America in 2020. “We saw cracked skulls and mass arrests, law enforcement pepper-spraying its way through a peaceful demonstration for a presidential photo op.”

What fantasy world is she living in? BLM protesters were rioters who were allowed to run rampant while police forces were ordered by local Democrat leaders to stand down. Her “presidential photo op” comment is a demonstrable lie in reference to an incident last year in Lafayette Square. There was no pepper-spraying, and the demonstration was not peaceful.

“Seeing the gulf between the responses to yesterday’s riot and this summer’s peaceful protests and the larger movement for racial justice is so painful,” she added. “I cannot think about moving on or turning the page until we reckon with the reality of what we saw yesterday.”

This is pure racial demagoguery from the party that just a few days ago was calling hypocritically for the nation’s “healing.”
