Michelle: America ‘ Still Not Where We Need to Be’ on Race

December 13, 2019

Speaking at the Obama Foundation’s leadership conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday, former first lady Michelle Obama slammed the U.S. for not being “where we need to be” on the issue of race.

“We’re still not where we need to be in the United States of America when it comes to race,” said Michelle. People thought electing Barack Obama would end racism. That’s 400 years of stuff that was going to be eliminated because of eight years of this kid from Hawaii? Are you kidding me?”

Well, that’s actually what Obama promised — to heal the country’s racial divide. Instead, he intentionally exacerbated it as part of his promised “fundamental transformation” of the United States.

Michelle’s remarks came after her recent criticism of “white folks” for moving out of her childhood neighborhood in Chicago, leaving “communities in shambles.”: “I want to remind white folks that y’all were running from us,” she added. This family, with all the values that you read about, you were running from us.”
