Tuesday on Twitter after the guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial was announced, documentary propagandist and raging demagogue Michael Moore celebrated by calling for an end of “white supremacy and white privilege” and demanding the U.S. “end policing as we know it.”
“YES!! In handcuffs! Now on to the work!” Moore tweeted. “All of us demand an end to white supremacy and white privilege. How many innocent black and brown ppl are in prison? Free them all! Arrest all police who break the law. Remove all racist cops. End policing as we know it. It doesn’t work.”
Chauvin was arrested, charged, tried, and convicted, even though there was never one iota of evidence that racism was a factor, but that’s not enough for Moore. ALL “black and brown ppl” must be freed. Policing itself must end. Normally this would be considered insane, except that it is not insanity but ideology.
In a December episode of his podcast, Moore had said, “We’ve got to really open up the prisons and let people out.”
“Of course nobody wants to get rid of the police,” he added falsely — plenty of his fellow radicals are calling for their abolition. “We need police, but we don’t need the police trying to be a social worker, trying to be a psychiatrist, and police have not been vetted in terms of their their racism and all the other things that we have to deal with,” Moore said.
Demagogues like Moore don’t want cops to be social workers, but they also don’t want them responding to violent crimes or looting or rioting, either — at least when “black and brown ppl” are involved. Then police are just being racist.
