Like a broken clock, comedian political commentator Bill Maher sometimes gets things right. Friday on HBO’s Real Time, host Maher reacted to radical Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s call for “no more policing” by noting that “common sense” is the Democratic Party’s biggest weakness.
“She’s calling for ‘no more policing’ or ‘incarceration.’ The criminals will be on the honor system? I mean, I thought defund the police was a terrible slogan, but no police? This is always — I mean, I’ve done many editorials on this, the Democrats’ Achilles’ Heel: common sense, common sense. You strike people as not having any common sense when you say things [like this].”
More accurately, you strike people as being a police-hating, far-left radical whose principal aim is not the safety and welfare of your constituents, but the downfall of “the system.” “No more policing” means turning mostly black inner cities into a Wild West for violent gangs, rampant crime, sex trafficking, and drug dealing. Most blacks don’t want to be left at the mercy of that. But Marxist radicals like Tlaib don’t care about those blacks. They care about disrupting the system.
