At the funeral Saturday of a woman killed in a Buffalo supermarket shooting, epically incompetent Vice President Kamala Harris predictably chimed in with a call for a ban on “assault weapons” in the wake of two recent mass shootings.
“On the issue of gun violence, I will say, as I’ve said countless times, we are not sitting around waiting to figure out what the solution looks like. You know, we’re not looking for a vaccine,” Harris told reporters. “We know what works on this. It includes, let’s have an assault weapons ban.”
No, we don’t know that at all. In fact, as with all gun control legislation, such a ban will do nothing to stop gun violence. It will impact only law-abiding gun owners. But Democrats don’t care about ending gun violence. They care about disarming the American public in order to solidify power over them.
“You know what an assault weapon is? You know how an assault weapon was designed?” Harris continued. “It was designed for a specific purpose – to kill a lot of human beings quickly. An assault weapon is a weapon of war with no place, no place in a civil society.”
That’s not a clear definition, and she and her leftist compatriots know it. Under her vague wording, literally any gun could be labeled an “assault weapon” or “weapon of war.” In fact, the weapons the Texas school shooter used were not “weapons of war.”
“Everybody’s got to stand up and agree that this should not be happening in our country and that we should have the courage to do something about it,” she blathered later.
What she means by “having the courage” to take action is this: ban the private ownership of guns. That has nothing to do with courage and everything to do with totalitarianism.
