According to a CNN poll released Tuesday, most leading Democrat presidential contenders have maintained or increased support, but Sen. Kamala Harris has dropped precipitously from 17% support to a meager 5%.
Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, for example, held steady at 15% and 14%, respectively, in both the June and recent polls. South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg was up 4 points to 5% in the latest poll. Frontrunner Joe Biden came in at 29% support, up from 22% despite his ongoing verbal gaffes.
Harris’ poll numbers are back down to what she had in the spring before getting a surge of support after her initial debate performance, CNN reported.
A devastating attack from competitor Tulsi Gabbard in the second round of Democratic National Committee presidential debates may have knocked Harris, once a serious threat to win the nomination, out of contention for good.
