In an appearance on CNN on Saturday, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee insisted that President Trump has been impeached, despite the fact that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not yet transferred the articles of impeachment to the Senate.
“I believe the vote of impeachment means that the President will always have on his legacy that he was impeached, yes,” she said. On the contrary, Trump will carry on undaunted; the Democrats have tarnished their own legacy with this partisan sham process.
Jackson Lee went on to claim that Pelosi refuses to transfer the articles of impeachment until the Senate can guarantee an unbiased trial, because she “believes that the Constitution requires fairness.”
Hogwash. The Democrats don’t care what the Constitution requires. Their impeachment inquiry and vote were wholly partisan and blatantly biased, and now they’re demanding that they receive a “fair” trial. They don’t seem to grasp or care that under the Constitution it is the accused who is guaranteed a fair trial.
