While not officially claiming responsibility for the deadly wildfires in northern and southern California, an ISIS media group declared that the fires are retribution for coalition bombings in Syria.
“O america, This is the punishment of bombing Muslims in Syria,” states the text circulated online by Al-Ansar Media. It was accompanied by an image of a burning building. The terror group has previously suggested arson as an attack tactic. “This is Allah’s punishment for you. And in shaa Allah, you will see more fires. Praise be to Allah.”
The causes of both fires are still under investigation. One of them, the Camp Fire in Butte County, has been the most destructive in the state’s history.
