Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders campaigned in Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s Detroit district over the weekend and posed before a backdrop of empty pantry shelves, accidentally foreshadowing what the senator’s socialist policies will lead to.
During Sanders’ tour of the district, he spoke to reporters at the Brightmoor Food Pantry in Detroit, which is reportedly running out of bottled water because the city has turned off the water for a growing number of Detroit families who can’t pay their bills, according to Breitbart News.
“Here in this campaign, we hear the word socialism a lot,” Sanders said. There’s a reason for that: Sanders is a self-declared socialist who openly intends to inflict that failed, devastating system on Americans. Standing before empty shelves, he announced, “Well, what this is a perfect example of is socialism for billionaires, massive amounts of subsidies and tax breaks.”
The unintentionally ironic photo op justifiably became comedy gold for critics of Sanders on social media.
