In an interview to be released at The Recount on Thursday, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton calls Republicans “gun worshippers” who are “shameless” because of their “huge advantage” due to the filibuster.
“You know, democracy is the balancing of interests and rights, and unfortunately at this time, the gun worshippers have a huge advantage because of the filibuster and because of their shameless exploitation of people’s unwarranted fears,” Hillary said.
“The opportunists on the other side, like [Sen. Ted] Cruz and his ilk,” she continued, “they know better and they are in the position of trying to keep people really riled up and scared that sensible gun legislation like we had in the ‘90s for 10 years will somehow undermine their rights.”
“Somehow”? Let’s be clear: the Democrats absolutely want not just to undermine the God-given right of all law-abiding American citizens to bear arms, but to abolish that right altogether. They want the law-abiding populace disarmed, not to reduce gun violence but to reduce resistance to government oppression.
The gun control measures Democrats want to enforce will have zero effect on gun violence anyway, because violent criminals by definition aren’t deterred by laws. Strict gun control always and everywhere is only a strategy to control and burden the law-abiding. But Democrats don’t care about the law-abiding, only about the victims of gun violence who can be weaponized politically. Dems don’t care about blacks in strictly gun-controlled Chicago who are routinely killed by other blacks, for example. But Asian women killed by a white mass shooter? Dems suddenly care.
“Well, what about the rights of all the rest of us? The rights of us to go to work, go shopping, go on dates to the movie theater, go to school, for heaven’s sake — what about the rest of us?” Hillary continued.
Hillary wants you to believe that law-abiding, Republican “gun worshippers” who cling to the Second Amendment as a barrier to government tyranny make life unsafe for “the rest of us.” In fact, responsible gun owners make all Americans safer. It is would-be tyrants like Hillary who are the real threat.
