U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told Fox News Thursday that the New York Times knew the truth about the purchase of curtains in Haley’s official New York City residence and misled its readers anyway.
A Times headline strongly suggested that Haley was living a lavish lifestyle at taxpayer expense by noting that “her” curtains cost more than $50,000. Buried in the article was the crucial reveal that the curtains were purchased under the Obama administration for Haley’s predecessor, and that they will be used ultimately by her successor.
“I hadn’t even taken the job when these curtains were being picked up,” Haley said.
