Despite dropping out of the race before Election Day and throwing her support behind Democrat Kyrsten Sinema, Green Party candidate Angela Green could end up being the spoiler in the battle to fill Arizona’s open Senate seat.
With around 99 percent of precincts in the state reporting as of Thursday, McSally led Sinema by around 17,000 votes, but Sinema pulled ahead by just 2,000 votes. With approximately 400,000 mail-in ballots yet to be counted, the outcome of the contest remains in doubt. Green has received nearly 39,000 votes.
On her campaign site, Green said “the ‘winner takes all’ two-party system is severely broken. This is a complete travesty. It’s time for change.”
