Gillum Subpoenaed for Campaign Records

May 31, 2019

Failed Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum has become the target of a recently-issued federal subpoena for his campaign records.

A federal grand jury is reportedly seeking documents on Gillum’s political action committee Forward Florida and his midterm 2018 campaign, along with information related to various donors, including the CEO of the African-American LGBTQ-rights organization National Black Justice Commission, and to the Schott Foundation for Public Education, where Gillum served as a board member until March 2017. “We ran an open and honest campaign,” Gillum declared in a statement.

Last month Gillum settled a state ethics case, agreeing to pay a $5,000 fine for receiving gifts from a lobbyist.
