Gillum Breaks Silence on Wild Night That Ruined His Career

September 11, 2020

In an interview set to air Monday, former rising Democrat star Andrew Gillum will speak to talk-show host Tamron Hall about the sordid incident in 2018 that ruined his political aspirations.

Police found the 41-year-old father of three and former Tallahassee mayor in a Miami Beach hotel room after a night of partying with two other men. Gillum was too impaired to talk. Crystal meth was also found in the room, although Gillum denied using the drug and was not arrested. A photo of a naked, unconscious Gillum made the tabloid rounds.

“When that photo came out, I didn’t recognize the person on the floor,” Gillum told Hall in an ABC excerpt aired on Good Morning America. He then went on to blame the photographer for the scandal: “That was not anything more than a person being at their most vulnerable state, unconscious, having given no consent, and someone decided to use a moment where I was literally lying in my own vomit.”

Pro tip for aspiring politicians: if you don’t want a photo of you lying unconscious in your own vomit on a hotel room carpet after partying heavily to be circulated in the media, don’t put yourself in that position.
