In an interview with CBS’s Face The Nation Sunday, Democrat presidential hopeful Kirsten Gillibrand promised to release all illegal aliens who claim to be seeking asylum into American communities.
“As president of the United States, I wouldn’t use the detention system at all,” Gillibrand said. “… if someone is seeking asylum, I would assign them a lawyer… They don’t need to be incarcerated. If they’re given a lawyer and given a process, they will follow it. They can go into the community…
“I would not fund any for-profit prisons, I would not lock up these families, I would have a humane immigration policy where people… would have lawyers and have a proper asylum process,” she added.
