Democrat Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand tweeted Thursday that the accuser behind the sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is being silenced by being required to testify before a Senate committee. She suggested that anything short of delaying Kavanaugh’s confirmation indefinitely while an FBI investigation is conducted into the 36-year-old incident is unfair to the accuser.
“Denying Dr. Ford an FBI investigation is silencing her,” Gillibrand tweeted. “Forcing her into a sham hearing is silencing her. And pushing through Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation is silencing her.”
