Irony alert: In an interview with Stephen Colbert Wednesday on The Late Show, Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) lamented that “America is not sending their best and brightest, you know, to Washington, DC.”
Colbert asked Fetterman if it was awkward seeing people he’s “put up a devastating meme about” around the Capitol, and the walking joke Fetterman replied, “You all should need to know that America is not sending their best and brightest to Washington, DC.”
He continued, “Like, sometimes you literally just can’t believe these people are making the decisions that are determining the government here, it’s actually scary too.”
“You have some very less gifted kinds of people there that are willing to shut down the government just to score points on Fox,” he concluded.
Fetterman’s lack of self awareness was rightly blasted on social media, as he was called out not only for his habit of dressing in the Congressional workplace like a mentally challenged hobo, but for his post-stroke struggles to speak and think coherently.
