The rising popularity of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a source of befuddlement for fellow Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill, who referred to the newly-elected Representative as a “bright, shiny new object.”
“I’m a little confused why she’s the thing,” said McCaskill on CNN last week. “A bright, shiny new object. Came out of nowhere and surprised people when she beat a very experienced congressman. And so she’s now talked about a lot. I’m not sure what she’s done yet to generate that kind of enthusiasm.”
“The rhetoric is cheap. Getting results is a lot harder,” McCaskill added.
