Durbin: Josh Hawley ‘Doesn’t Have the Credibility He Thinks He Does’

March 21, 2022

Sunday on ABC’s This Week, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) said that Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) has no “credibility” in terms of criticizing  Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson before her confirmation hearings.

ABC propagandist anchor George Stephanopoulos asked Durbin about Hawley’s series of Twitter posts suggesting Judge Jackson is “soft on child porn,” which Stephanopoulos laughably claimed “has been debunked by several independent fact-checkers.”

Durbin replied, “I’m not sure what it signals. As far as Senator Hawley is concerned, here is the bottom line: he’s wrong. He’s inaccurate and unfair in his analysis. Judge Jackson has been scrutinized more than any person I can think of.”

Really? Scrutinized more than Clarence Thomas? More than Brett Kavanaugh?

“Senator Hawley is making charges that came out of nowhere,” Durbin added, getting increasingly unhinged as he continued. “Independent fact-checkers like The Washington Post and CNN discredited his claims already.”

The Washington Post and CNN are independent fact-checkers?

“They should have. There’s no truth to what he says,” Durbin ranted. “He’s part of the fringe within the Republican Party. He was fist-pumping the murderous mob that descended on the Capitol on January 6th of last year.”

Independent fact check: there was no murderous mob at the Capitol on January 6th of last year, and no evidence of Hawley “fist-pumping.” This is just angry demagoguery from Durbin’s fevered imagination.

“He doesn’t have the credibility he thinks he does,” Durbin added. Methinks he doth protest too much.
