In an op-ed Tuesday in USA Today, Sen. Tammy Duckworth declared President Trump is not fit to be commander-in-chief because he allegedly overlooked dubious intelligence reports of Russia offering bounties to kill U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
In an article titled “Duckworth on Russia bounties: How dare Trump still call himself our commander in chief?”, Duckworth pushed the discredited New York Times “bounty” story, claiming it had been “confirmed by other major news organizations.”
Administration officials have denied the story, noting that the low-level intelligence rumors had never been verified. Indeed, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff himself, a Democrat, knew of the rumors in February but did nothing.
Duckworth added that Trump poses a “grave threat” to national security, and that he has shown “subservience” to Russian President Vladimir Putin, all of which is standard, fear-mongering Democrat talking points. Tucker Carlson has called out Duckworth as a “fraud.”
