Georgia Democratic congressman Hank Johnson repeatedly compared President Trump to Adolf Hitler during a speech Tuesday at a Baptist church in Atlanta.
“Much like how Hitler took over the Nazi party, Trump has taken over the Republican Party,” Johnson said during a celebration to mark the 156th anniversary of the implementation of the Emancipation Proclamation. “Hitler was accepting of violence towards the achievement of political objectives. Trump encouraged violence against protesters at his rallies,” he continued.
“Americans, particularly black Americans, can’t afford to make that same mistake about the harm that could be done by a man named Hitler or a man named Trump,” Johnson added.
