Monday on CBS’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert, actor and angry Trump critic Robert De Niro mused that Michael Bloomberg, who just recently threw his hat into the ring as presidential candidate, “might be the one” to defeat President Trump in 2020.
“I like Bloomberg. He’s an adult. He’s a grownup,” said De Niro, who is known for juvenile public outbursts of profanity when hating on Trump.
“We just have to get past this — get over the hump into calm waters, and, so, to me, Bloomberg might be the one,” the Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferer added. “I love [Pete] Buttigieg, like so many people. But we need to get past this horrible situation.”
By “horrible situation,” De Niro means Trump’s revitalization of the economy, record employment for blacks and Latinos, his revival of a spirit of American exceptionalism, and much more. The out-of-touch totalitarian Bloomberg, by contrast, is best known for his effort to ban big sodas as former New York City mayor.
