September 6, 2018

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who recently announced he would not be seeking a third term, leaves behind a legacy of record homicide levels, soaring crime rates and a deep racial divide that has polarized the Windy City.

Under Emanuel’s watch since mid-May 2011, there have been more than 19,000 shootings in Chicago and 4,000 murders. Chicago Police Department stats reveal that the average number of murders per year since he took office is 541, up from an average of 463.
