After co-signing a statement in Harper’s magazine on Tuesday criticizing the left’s repressive “cancel culture,” radical leftist intellectual Noam Chomsky came under fire from the cancel culture itself.
The Harper’s statement, titled “A Letter on Justice and Open Debate,” attacked Trump as “a real threat to democracy” but warned that “it is now all too common to hear calls for swift and severe retribution in response to perceived transgressions of speech and thought.”
“Not surprised to see aging wankers like Martin Amis on something like this, or thin-skinned right-wing attention hogs like Bari Weiss and David Frum, but it’s kind of sad to see people like Jeet Heer and Noam Chomsky putting their names on such a vague, fear-mongering statement,” tweeted one leftist.
The fact that Chomsky, one of the towering icons of anti-Americanism and anti-capitalism, is being denounced by today’s left confirms David Horowitz’s insight: “Inside every progressive is a totalitarian screaming to get out.”
