Speaking at the White House on Monday to promote clean transportation as gas prices spiked to a record high over the weekend, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg promoted electric cars as the solution.

“Clean transportation can bring significant cost savings for the American people as well,”said the diversity hire Buttigieg. “So the people from rural, to suburban, to urban communities can all benefit from the gas savings of driving an EV.”

“In our economy, transportation is the single biggest contributor to climate change,” he continued, suggesting that Americans struggling with record high gas prices just take public transportation. “One of our best tools for doing that is public transit; transit gets riders for where they need to be efficiently and affordably with far less pollution from driving.”

Since becoming transportation secretary, Buttigieg has repeatedly urged Americans to buy electric vehicles in order to bankrupt the fossil fuel industry and save the planet. This is the wealthy globalist left’s answer to Americans calling desperately for the energy independence we enjoyed under former President Donald Trump. It is the contemporary version of “Let them eat cake.”
