Boko Haram terrorists killed at least 92 Chadian soldiers late Sunday night in the deadliest attack on the nation’s forces, according to Breitbart News, demonstrating the group’s stepped-up expansion into the region.

“We lost [at least] 92 of our soldiers, noncommissioned officers and officers. It’s the first time we have lost so many men,” said Chad President Idriss Deby Itno. A security official told the press that “the camp is on an island where the ways in were controlled by Boko Haram fighters. They were able to leave as they wanted and without being forced out by the army.”

Boko Haram jihadists also killed at least 50 Nigerian troops on Monday in an ambush near Goneru village in northern Yobe state in Nigeria.

The United Nations estimates that during their more than decade-long insurgency, Boko Haram terrorists have killed 36,000 people and displaced nearly two million in northeastern Nigeria. They have carried out numerous attacks in the Lake Chad region linking Chad, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Niger.
