In a video released Wednesday by a faction of the Islamic State-linked Boko Haram, a kidnapped aid worker declared that the terror group killed a 16-year-old Christian schoolgirl for refusing toconvert to Islam.
Grace Taku, an aid worker for Action Against Hunger, blamed the death of schoolgirl Leah Sharibu and another captive identified only as “Alice” on the Nigerian government’s failure to fight for her release. Taku and five other aid workers were kidnapped on July 18.
The three-minute video shows a tearful Taku begging her employer, the Christian Association of Nigeria, and the Nigerian government to “do something” to secure their release and prevent them from suffering the same fate as the two murdered captives.
“Do something to see that we are released,” Taku begged. “I am begging on behalf of all of us here that please Nigeria should not allow such [death] to happen to us. And it also happen again with Leah and Alice – because Nigeria could not do anything about them they were not released; they were also killed.”
