BLM UK Raises $1 Million, Vows to Spend It on Abolishing Police

June 10, 2020

Black Lives Matter (BLM) in the UK raised over $1 million last week in a crowdfunding campaign, and vowed to spend the money on the “abolition of police.”

The GoFundMe campaign, launched after the death of George Floyd in police custody, raised $1,022,000 with over 29,000 donations. In the crowdfunding pitch, the organization said they are “guided by a commitment to dismantle imperialism, capitalism, white-supremacy, patriarchy, and the state structures that disproportionately harm black people in Britain and around the world.” It also called for “reparations” to “black people dealing with generational trauma and institutional racism,” adding, “The redistribution of wealth is a key factor of allyship in 2020.”

BLMUK also declared that they intend to use the donations to put “police monitoring” in place and to develop “strategies for the abolition of police.”

It’s unclear why the UK police even need to be abolished, since they pose more of a threat to citizens who post politically incorrect tweets than to violent criminals, jihadists and violent mobs.
