BLM Targets Popular Children’s Show for ‘Depicting ‘Good Cops’

June 12, 2020

The woke totalitarians of “Cancel Culture” have already forced the cancellation of the 31-year-old show Cops, in the wake of the death of George Floyd in police custody. Now the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement is targeting a Nickelodeon children’s cartoon called Paw Patrol because it presents a positive view of police.

The show had actually called for “Black voices to be heard” on “Blackout Tuesday,” but this only prompted calls to shut down the show for its cute doggy cops.

Reporting on this, the New York Times noted, “The effort to publicize police brutality also means banishing the good-cop archetype… ‘Paw Patrol’ seems harmless enough, and that’s the point: The movement rests on understanding that cops do plenty of harm… Cops can dance, they can hug, they can kneel on the ground, but their individual acts of kindness can no longer obscure the violence of a system.”

The Times has it backwards: it is individual acts of police brutality that are obscuring the integrity of the system, the humanity and heroism of countless good cops.
