Opal Tometi, one of the founders of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, is a supporter of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, according to Breitbart News.
The socialist Maduro has presided over one of the world’s most repressive regimes since the death of previous dictator Hugo Chávez in 2013. Maduro’s security forces have committed a long list of human rights atrocities including the torture, kidnapping, rape, and killing of unarmed protesters.
Photos have begun to circulate of Tometi hugging Maduro at the 2015 People of African Descent Leadership Summit in Harlem, in which other officials of the Venezuelan regime also participated. She appears alongside Maduro on a Venezuelan government propaganda site’s news report from the event, raising a fist and embracing him. Tometi delivered a speech at the summit before a Venezuelan flag, thanking Maduro’s government for the opportunity.
This comes as no surprise since BLM is not about black lives but about the social justice redistribution of wealth.
