Former Vice President Joe Biden claimed at a New Hampshire campaign stop that he once defeated the National Rifle Association in the 1990s.
“I’m the only guy ever nationally to beat the NRA,” Biden told a crowd, referring to the passage of the 1994 assault weapons ban. “It opened up the whole effort to make sure there is background checks for the first time in American history,” the Democrat presidential hopeful added.
Biden’s speech was the same one in which he conceded that the Second Amendment does exist, but it does not mean that Americans are “entitled” to own a gun.
