AOC Slams Fellow Dem Manchin for Diminishing Her Tweets

December 3, 2020

In a Twitter response, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) snapped back at Sen. Joe Manchin for his dismissal of her as a lawmaker who is “more active on Twitter than anything else,” saying she finds it “amusing when politicians try to diminish the seriousness” of her work.

“I guess she put the dagger stare on me,” Manchin said in a Times interview published Monday, referring to AOC staring him down for clapping during President Trump’s State of the Union address. “I don’t know the young lady — I really don’t. I never met her. I’m understanding she’s not that active with her bills or in committee. She’s more active on Twitter than anything else.”

“I find it amusing when politicians try to diminish the seriousness of our policy work, movement organizing & grassroots fundraising to ‘she just tweets,’ as though ‘serious’ politics is only done by begging corporate CEOs for money through wax-sealed envelopes delivered by raven,” AOC wrote in apparent response.

This isn’t the first time AOC has glared disapprovingly at the man some describe as the “most conservative Senate Democrat.” Last month, she posted an image of herself staring him down over his refusal to embrace her “crazy socialist agenda” to defund the police.

“Defund the police? Defund, my butt. I’m a proud West Virginia Democrat. We are the party of working men and women. We want to protect Americans’ jobs & healthcare. We do not have some crazy socialist agenda, and we do not believe in defunding the police,” Manchin declared, earning another evil eye from the radical Congresswoman.
