Appearing on the hip-hop radio show Ebro in the Morning, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) agreed with the host that Israel’s treatment of Palestinians is “very, very unjust,” leaving them “no choice but to riot.”
“And what’s going on with Israel and Palestine [sic]… it is very, very criminal. It’s very, very unjust, right?” asked the host, and AOC replied, “Absolutely.”
After claiming that “criticizing the occupation doesn’t make you anti-Israel… it’s about making sure that Palestinian human rights are equal to Israeli human rights,” AOC went on to say, “I believe that injustice is a threat to the safety of all people, because once you have a group that is marginalized and marginalized and marginalized—once someone doesn’t have access to clean water, they have no choice but to riot, right?”
Her view that Arabs in Israel are oppressed victims betrays, at best, a staggering, willful ignorance of the Israeli-Arab conflict or, at worst, straight-up anti-Semitism, of which she and her freshman colleagues known as “the Squad” have given frequent evidence.
