Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union, socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) said that House Democratic leadership’s rebuke of her “Squad” colleague Rep. Ilhan Omar, feeds into “right-wing vitriol.”
Defending Omar’s comments morally equating the U.S. and Israel with Hamas and the Taliban, AOC claimed, “She was very clearly speaking about the ICC investigations, which name these four actors in two suits… I believe that to assert that she was equating these two entities when she was speaking about the ICC investigations in which all four parties are being investigated for instances of war crimes, you know, I believe to assert that this was equating these two I believe was not a generous interpretation whatsoever.”
It’s unclear why anyone owes the raging anti-Semite and anti-American Muslim Omar a “generous interpretation” of her reprehensible comments. When did the left ever grant former President Trump a “generous interpretation” of the many comments of his that the left distorted and took out of context?
Speaking of “out of context,” AOC then declared that “this whole hubbub started with right-wing news outlets taking what she said out of context.”
This is a lie.
“And when we feed into that, it adds legitimacy to a lot of this kind of right-wing vitriol,” AOC continued.
So the problem for AOC is not that Omar lumped the U.S. and Israel in with Hamas and the Taliban, but that her fellow Squad member’s comments gave ammunition to the right. It’s clear where AOC’s priorities lie.
