Wael Hamza Jalaidan (a.k.a. Julaidan)

* A founder of the terrorist group al Qaeda
* Former Secretary-General of the terrorism fundraising group – Rabita Trust
* Is considered one of the first al Qaeda members to bring terrorism to the U.S.

Wael Hamza Jalaidan was the Secretary-General of Rabita Trust, a now-defunct Pakistan-based charity which had its assets seized by the United States and Saudi Arabia for knowingly funding terrorist organizations. Jalaidan helped found al Qaeda and was the group’s chief of logistics. He is considered a master at illegal arms smuggling.

Jalaidan was perhaps one of the first al Qaeda members to bring terrorism to the United States. In 1986 he was the director of the Islamic Center of Tucson (ICT). An associate of his at ICT, Wadih El-Hage, was later convicted in the 1998 conspiracy to bomb American embassies in Africa.

While in Afghanistan in the early 1990s, Jalaidan headed the Saudi Red Crescent Society and the Muslim World League. He left Afghanistan in 1992 and moved to Saudi Arabia, and later to Bosnia, where he supervised the Saudi Aid Committee for a short time. He has also been linked to Ayman al-Zawahiri and Abu Zubayda, two lieutenants of Osama bin Laden’s.
