Mha Atma Singh Khalsa

Overview

* Founder of Earth Action Network
* Signatory to Not in Our Name’s “Statement of Conscience”

Dr. Mha Atma Singh Khalsa, a Los Angeles-based chiropractor, founded the Earth Action Network (EAN) in 1989. For a number of years, Khalsa was the principal writer of the letters that EAN prepared for its members and supporters to sign and send to politicians and businessmen who could, in turn, affect public policy vis-a-vis the environment.

In 2001 Khalsa joined other leftwing funders – including Humanitarian Law Project founder Aris Anagnos – in withholding financial support from Pacifica Radio station KPFK for not broadcasting the radical programs Democracy Now! and Alternative Radio.

After the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Khalsa was a signatory to Not In Our Name’s (NION) “Statement of Conscience,” which condemned not only the Bush administration’s “stark new measures of repression,” but also its “unjust, immoral, illegitimate, [and] openly imperial policy towards the world.” NION was a Communist front group founded by longtime Maoist C. Clark Kissinger.
