Marisa Demeo is the regional counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educationl Fund (MALDEF), a Hispanic advocacy group promoting open borders, amnesty and free college tuition for illegal aliens, and lowered educational standards for Hispanics. Demeo also serves on the board of Alliance for Justice (AFJ), whose goal is to systematically oppose conservative judicial nominees. In 2003, Demeo opposed President Bush’s appeals court nominee, Miguel Estrada, asserting that he was not an authentic Hispanic because he was too conservative.
In March of 2009, President Barack Obama nominated Demeo to be an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The Senate confirmed her nomination, and she was sworn in on May 10, 2010.
