Dr. Agha Saeed is a professor of political science and speech at California State University. He is also a founding member and leader of the American Muslim Alliance (AMA). The AMA was set up as a political action committee with the goal of electing 2,000 Muslims to offices across the United States, and Saeed is the driving force behind this crusade.
With regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Saeed and his group have come down squarely against Israel. “As long as the Israeli government and Israeli settlers continue to kill Palestinian men, women, and children,” says the AMA, “we will continue to condemn their atrocities and to expose the hideous nature of this neo-colonial occupation.”
In May 2009 Saeed spoke at a banquet/fundraiser for the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, where he complained that in the aftermath of 9/11 the Muslim Community in America was besieged by an epidemic of hateful Islamophobia. He also demanded that the Department of Justice put an end to spying on suspected radical mosques. He also objected to what he characterized as efforts to undermine Muslim organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Saeed has also defended Sami Al-Arian, who is in federal lockup as the U.S. leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a terrorist group that has murdered over 100 people in Israel.
Saeed died on February 23, 2021.
