Overview

* President of the terrorist-tied Mosque Foundation based in Bridgeview, Illinois

Ousama Jammal is the president of the Bridgeview, Illinois-based Mosque Foundation, whose membership includes individuals associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, the organization that spawned al Qaeda, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Egyptian Islamic Jihad, and other terrorist entities. In response to allegations about the Foundation’s ties to terrorism, Jammal has said, “Islam is a religion of peace and understanding; and the Mosque Foundation continuously strives to adhere and promote these universal principles. The Mosque Foundation denies any accusations . . . attempting to associate it, its leadership, or its Imam [Said] with any form of extremism or terrorism.”

Notwithstanding these denials, however, the Mosque Foundation has raised $50,000 for the defense of Sami al Arian, the North American leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad. It has also raised money “in memory” of dead suicide bombers. Its imam is known to have brought his children to a cemetery to pay their respects to dead terrorists. And during the 1980s, Osama bin Laden’s “spiritual advisor” Abdullah Azzam visited Bridgeview and brought at least three Bridgeview men with him to fight in Afghanistan.
