* In 2011, Murguia received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from California State University-Dominguez Hills.

* Over the course of her professional career, Murguia has received numerous awards. For example, in 2004 she earned a place in Hispanic magazine’s list of “100 Top Latinas” list, and in Hispanic Business magazine’s list of “100 Most Influential Hispanics.” In 2005 she was a finalist for Hispanic Business magazine’s “Woman of the Year” Award, and she received the “KU Law Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus/na Award.” In 2006 she was named in People En Español‘s list of “100 Most Influential Hispanics,” the NonProfit Times‘s list of “Power and Influence Top 50” leaders, and Washingtonian magazine’s list of the “100 Most Powerful Women in Washington.” And in 2007 she was named in Poder magazine’s list of “The Poderosos 100,” Latino Leaders’s list of “101 Top Leaders in the Hispanic Community,” and Hispanic magazine’s list of “Powerful Latinos 2007.” That same year, Murguia was featured in Newsweek’s Third Annual “Women and Leadership” issue.

* Murguia has appeared as a guest on many national news broadcasts, including ABC World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, NBC’s Today, CNN’s Larry King Live, PBS’s NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360°, and CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight.
