* Since the 1960s, Cora Weiss has participated in a host of “united front” organizations and causes affiliated with the Communist Party USA, the Socialist Workers Party, or other communist entities. These organizations and causes include three that are named in the Cora Weiss profile: the Riverside Church Disarmament Program, Women Strike for Peace, and the Committee of Liaison with U.S. Servicemen Detained in North Vietnam. Among the others are the following: the Emma Lazarus Clubs; the Foot Hood Three Defense Committee; the Committee to Defend the Panther 21; the Spring Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam; the National Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam; the New Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam; FRIENDSHIPMENT; the Bach Mai Hospital Fund; the Fifth Avenue Vietnam Peace Parade Committee; the People’s Coalition for Peace and Justice; the June 12 Disarmament Coalition; the Chile Emergency Committee, and Anniversary Tours.

* Asserting that war constitutes “the greatest environmental crime” imaginable, Weiss in 2003 was a signatory to a letter entitled “Global Warming: An Interfaith Call for Repentance and Renewal,” which specifically blamed the U.S. for the proliferation of global greenhouse-gas emissions and advocated the creation of “a sustainable economy” that might help to heal “earth’s wounds.” Other signers included William Sloane Coffin, Robert Edgar, and Ingrid Mattson.

* Over the years, Cora Weiss has donated money to the campaigns of numerous political candidates, all of them Democrats and Independents. Among the more notable recipients were Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Kerry, Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader, Tom Harkin, Eleanor Holmes Norton, Maxine Waters, and Jesse Jackson.
