* In 2009, Hackman was awarded a research fellowship with the Great Place to Work Institute. In addition, she has sat on the board of the Minnesota chapter of the National Association of Multicultural Education (president), the board of Rainbow Families (a Washington D.C.-based LGBTQ organization), and other committees in the area of social justice.
