When the USSR unilaterally resumed
its nuclear-weapons testing activities in 1961 after a brief moratorium, a move that greatly alarmed
the United States, WPC issued
a statement justifying the Soviet action.
According to an FBI report
to the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, WPC was
was one of the organizers of a large 1982 anti-war protest in New
York City.
