Founded in 1981, Dar al-Maal al-Islami (DMI) is a Muslim bank based in Switzerland. With a network that is active on four continents, DMI operates in three financial business sectors: Islamic Banking, Islamic investment, and Islamic insurance and re-insurance. Haydar Mohamed bin Laden, half brother of Osama bin Laden, sits on its twelve-member Executive Board. According to State Department records and an August 2002 brief filed by the families of 9/11 victims, DMI was involved in "al Qaeda financing through several of its subsidiaries, including […] Faisal Islamic Bank and Al Shamal Islamic Bank."
