Saddam Ringtones
The London Arabic newspaper Al-Sharak Al-Awast is reporting that the latest fad in Iraq is having Saddam Hussein's voice as the "ringtone" on cellular phones. The Saddam voice surpassed in popularity clips from popular Arabic singing stars. Imitation Saddam voice messages are also popular as greetings on answering machines and cell phones. In one version, the message says that the recipient is unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, followed by a maniacal Saddam chortle.
We suggest chipping in to buy copies for Michael Isikoff, John Barry and the Newsweek editors.
