Insulting Islam Banned: No Free Speech in Europe?

Italian preliminary investigative judge Armando Grasso ordered the formulation of charges against the author, saying the book had expressions which were "unequivocally offensive to Islam".
"...At the heart of her thinking is the following reasoning: the fight against Islamic terrorism is made more difficult by intellectual terrorism cloaked in anti-racism...."
No wonder the EuroPC crowd doesn't want her to publish.
I can't decide whether European law is closer to an American college's speech code or an "Islamic Republic's" legal system.
As the Europeans continue to enforce such laws, more intellectuals will come to America as they did 70 years ago.
Fallaci now lives in NYC.

I am sure the trials of Muslims for statements offensive to Christians and Jews will start any day, now.
I had the privilege of reading Ms. Fallaci's "little book", as she described it, The Rage and the Pride, shortly after it was released. I heartily recommend it; it is a powerful work, and its author a formidable woman.
I, for one, am honored that she chose the United States as her adopted home.
Europe was never comfortable with the idea of free speech. The French and Italians have historically always opposed it and the Germans don't even understand what it is.
The last native Europeans to really believe in free speech were the ancient Greeks.
Europe will be very happy under Muslim domination, it frees them from the responsibility to think.

And I had such hope for Italy when on Sept. 12, 2001 Silvio Berlusconi opined that Islamic culture is "inferior" and that "the West should unite to destroy it."
Oh well. Maybe he can rent the apartment across the hall from Ms. Fallaci.
Thanks to the European governments it's no wonder the Muslims perceive westerners as cowards.
