The British Animal Rights Nazis are on the March
The Times Higher Education Supplement in Britain reports that the British government is urging universities to be on high alert for attacks by animal rights extremists as it emerged that Oxford University is prefabricating its new £18 million animal research facility on a secret site away from the city.
Britain's animal rights kooks are even nuttier and more violent then those in other places. Work on the construction site was for Oxford's labs was halted last July after extremists targeted the contractors in a campaign that included sending threatening letters. The government's Research Defence Society is appointing a senior person to co-ordinate the fight against animal rights extremism across British universities.
The animal rights people are getting more and more insane. PETA, the main animal rights lobby in the US (PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, but I have argued for years that it really should call itself People for the Equitable Treatment of Animals ) has not only comparing the eating of meat to the Holocaust of Jews, most notably with its recent scurrilous "Holocaust on your Plate" campaign. Interestingly, a number of neonazi and Holocaust Denial web sites have picked up on the PETA campaign against kosher practices to denounce Jews and Judaism in general .
A while back, the leader of PETA said she had drawn up a will directing that her flesh be barbecued and her skin used to make leather products in protest at man's ill-treatment of animals. Ingrid Newkirk, 53, president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said that she had chosen to donate her body to her organization for use in a variety of protests. Newkirk also suggested that her feet be removed and made into umbrella stands similar to those made from elephant feet that she had seen as a child. She earlier had stated: "A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy," and so, it thus follows, "Medical research is immoral even if it's essential. Even if animal testing produced a cure for AIDS, we'd be against it." And best of all: "Six million people died in concentration camps," she told the Washington Post, "but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughterhouses."
A few years back, one of PETA's sister groups in Los Angeles called itself JIHAD for Justice through Insurrection by Humans for Animal Defense. A new counter-PETA group, by the way, is now available on the internet, also calling itself PETA, but this counter-PETA stands for People Eating Tasty Animals.

To me PETA is People Eating Tasty Animals
PETA membership is prima fasci evidence of insanity. To the rubber rooms with them.
So let me get this straight, it's alright to kill babies for the simple reason that the "parents" were to stupid and irresponsible to use birthcontrol, but don't eat meat? I've heard that the Indian word for vegitarian is, bad hunter.
Screw them!!
If God did not intend man to eat the flesh of lesser animals, He would not have made it taste so good with barbeque sauce.
It owuld be simple to dismiss these people as retards but we have seen other stupid ideas become mainstream.
These people are a fanatical religion every bit ast hatefilled and dangerous as the most radical islamic groups.
This aint the worst of it. Check this out:
Let's see..PETA is to ____? as The Holy Land Foundation is to Hamas.
Get a load of this, from a CNN report covering recent Senate Hearings:
"Inhofe alleges PETA link
Senate Environment Committee Chairman James Inhofe estimated the cost of damages from militant environmental and animal rights supporters at more than $110 million in the past decade.
"Just like al Qaeda or any other terrorist movement, ELF and ALF cannot accomplish their goals without money, membership, and the media," the Republican senator from Oklahoma said.
Inhofe said there was "a growing network of support for extremists like ELF and ALF," and he singled out People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for giving money to members of both groups."
ELF is not a Christmas movie, and ALF isn't the T.V. sitcom:
"Of particular concern are the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and the Earth Liberation Front (ELF).
John Lewis, the FBI's deputy assistant director for counterterrorism, said animal and environmental rights extremists have claimed credit for more than 1,200 criminal incidents since 1990. The FBI has 150 pending investigations associated with animal rights or eco-terrorist activities, and ATF officials say they have opened 58 investigations in the past six years related to violence attributed to the ELF and ALF."
Now what does all this have to do with Ingrid Newkirk and the oh so compassionate and enlightened folks at PETA?
This from The Center for Consumer Freedom, ("..a nonprofit coalition supported by restaurants, food companies, and consumers, working together to promote personal responsibility and protect consumer choices."):
"* In the mid-1990s, PETA paid over $70,000 in grants for the legal defense
of arsonist Rodney Coronado, who was convicted of firebombing a Michigan
State University research lab. The ALF claimed credit for this violent
crime shortly after it was committed. PETA President Ingrid Newkirk was
implicated in this arson by the case's chief prosecutor for arranging
"days before the MSU arson occurred" for Coronado to send her video of
the arson and stolen materials from inside the targeted laboratory.
* In April 2001, PETA made a direct contribution of $1,500 to the North
American Earth Liberation Front (ELF) to "support their program
activities." Among its long list of crimes, ELF claimed credit for the
1998 firebombing of the Vail Colorado Ski Resort, resulting in $12
million in damage.
* In 2001, PETA campaign director Bruce Friedrich praised the actions of
underground animal rights militants at an animal rights convention
saying, "I think it would be great if all of the fast-food outlets,
slaughterhouses, these laboratories, and the banks that fund them
exploded tomorrow ... Hallelujah to the people who are willing to do
it."
In 2003, self-appointed ALF spokesman Dr. Jerry Vlasak, while acting as
a spokesperson for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
(PCRM), openly endorsed the murder of doctors who use animals in medical
research, saying, "For 5 lives, 10 lives, 15 human lives, we could save
a million, 2 million, 10 million non-human lives." When a member of his
audience objected, comparing Vlasak's approach to that of abortion-
clinic bombers, he replied: "Absolutely. I think they had a great
strategy going."
HSUS has funded the operation of an Internet server called "waste.org" -
- which was then the source of "communiques" issued by the ALF after the
commission of arson and other violent crimes.
A 1999 issue of the magazine No Compromise, published by and for ALF
supporters, printed a list of its benefactors. These included PETA, the
Fund for Animals, In Defense of Animals, and the New Jersey Animal
Rights Alliance."
Having listened to Newkirk's rather smug, condescending, holier-than-thou defense of PETA on Michael Medved's talk show a couple of months back, deriding and chastising the callousness of Americans as we WASTE, yes WASTE our time watching football, as she nobly protects the defenseless, I can't help but chuckle. She did not accept an invitation to testify before this Senate committee, but sent a lawyer drafted missive. Once again, from the CNN story:
"PETA claims more than 800,000 members. Its president, Ingrid Newkirk, declined to appear at the hearing, but general counsel Jeffrey Kerr denied Inhofe's allegation in a written statement.
"PETA has no involvement with alleged ALF or ELF actions. PETA does not support terrorism. PETA does not support violence," Kerr said.
"In fact PETA exists to fight the terrorism and violence inflicted on billions of animals annually in the meat, dairy, experimentation, tobacco, fur, leather, and circus industries."
Uhuh.
Way to assert that moral equivalence between terrorists on the one hand, and farmers, people doing vital medical research, and people who dare to eat animal products on the other hand. That's going to sway public opinion. Good job PETA.
Take a careful look at the ALF website. Black ski masked "activists". No reason to worry, I'm sure. Move on now, watch your football.
I can imagine the hew and cry, coming from these organizations in the coming days. "Homeland Security is stomping on our civil rights for no good reason!" Keep an eye on this.
Hat tip to the folks at NR's Corner, for this.
Here's the entry from my blog, (the link to it)

That's interesting - I wonder who one would have to go to in order to have human skin turned into clothing, not to mention the legality of such an *ahem* undertaking.
Any morticians out there in the audience, tonight?
